The Waxhaw Lions Club is soliciting donations from local businesses to help Waxhaw Parks and Recreation purchase a $2,000+ Sensory Communication Board to be installed at Downtown Central Park in Waxhaw. (See attached flyer.) The park itself is a terrific facility designed for use by adults and children with all levels of ability. However, some patrons cannot communicate with normal speech to tell their companions which part of the facility they want to visit. You can imagine how frustrating that must be. This Sensory Communication Board will show all of the park's facilities in a way that enables someone to point at the picture of what they want to do or the companion can point at pictures until a positive response is given.
