Cathy and Jim were both born and raised in Northeastern CT, where they met while
attending college at Central CT State University. Cathy graduated with a degree in
Marketing and Jim with a degree in Computer Science. They later lived in South
Windsor, CT for 30 years where they raised their three beautiful children, all of whom
still live in CT and MA. They moved to Waxhaw in March of 2023.
Cathy has worked in the Insurance industry her entire career where she was a Manager
at Allstate Insurance and then ran her own Allstate personal lines agency. After selling
her business, she worked for two commercial lines agencies in CT until moving to NC
where she now proudly works at Scott Insurance in Uptown Charlotte.
Jim has worked as a computer programmer/developer his whole career for various
companies and is currently working remotely for a company located in Hartford CT.
Cathy and Jim both began their Lions memberships in East Windsor, CT. Cathy joined
in 1994, and Jim later joined in 2009. They transferred their membership to the
Waxhaw club in 2023 after moving there.
Cathy has served as President in both clubs (3 years in East Windsor and 1 year in
Waxhaw) as well as chairing multiple club projects, including starting a new Pancake
Breakfast fundraiser in Waxhaw and is currently the club administrator. Jim served in
East Windsor as President for 2 years, 4 years as membership chair, and 4 years as
Treasurer. He currently is the Treasurer of the Waxhaw club. He also served in the
district cabinet in CT for six years, one year as the Cabinet Treasurer and multiple years
as chairs for both Opening Eyes and the Veterans Stand Down. He also is currently the
Global Service Team chair for District 31-O. Both were awarded the Ambassador of
Sight and a Melvin Jones Fellows from the East Windsor club. Jim is also a Certified
Vision Screener.
Both have always believed in volunteer work and helping others. Many lasting
friendships have been made with Lion members of both clubs that will always hold a
special place in their hearts.
